The Arc of the Emerald Coast receives a holiday surprise

Local business donates $20,000

(Fort Walton Beach, FLA – December 5, 2019) –The Arc of the Emerald Coast received an exciting holiday surprise this week! Larry Batchelor Mechanical LLC, the parent company of Mills Heating and Air of Fort Walton Beach, donated $20,000.

When Chris White, Manager of Mills Heating and Air, was asked what inspired the generous donation he replied, Mills Heating and Air had a very good year in 2019 and we wanted to give back to the local community.”  Jackson White, manager of Larry Batchelor Mechanical, added ” We asked our employees to select five local charities that would-be recipients and The Arc of the Emerald Coast was one.  We wanted to thank them for all the good they do for the people with disabilities in our community.”

The Arc of the Emerald Coast took the generous group of donors on a tour of their Fort Walton Beach Adult Day Training Center to show them how the money would be used. The Adult Day Center is open Monday-Friday and serves over 70 adults with mental and physical disabilities each day, teaching life skills and providing respite care for families. The center has long been in need of a facelift, desperate for flooring, paint and basic repairs. The Arc recently received a quote for $25,000 for the renovation, which will almost be entirely covered by the donation.

The Arc is still seeking the remaining $5,000 to begin the renovation. Those interested in donating can contact Dtashikarcemeraldcoast@gmail.com.
